Celebrity Events And Banquet Halls

My wedding reception was cancelled due to hurricane Dorian and evacuation in the area. Gerald became rude and more unprofessional when I asked to discuss reimbursement options after several email exchanges where he stated he wasn't sure if the event hall would have power or if the area would be safe. When asking him to discuss options his reply was that he doesn't have to give me anything and to read the Force Majeure clause but he would give me part of my money back and dismissed me as if I was done a favor or if I had offended him by asking to discuss refund options when no services where completed. The clause basically says no matter what happens that is no fault of yours i.e natural disasters that forces their business inoperable they don't have to refund or reschedule and keep all your money. When asking about reimbursement I realistically felt like it would be a possibility that 100 % would not be received even though no service was completed whatsoever. If Jerry was not so rude we may have been able to end things on good terms especially since my mother is planning her 50th birthday in the area the event hall would have been getting the money back plus more and I have a friend who lives in the area that was looking for an event hall that i made sure to tell of my experience so her family will also be looking for a different venue. I don't live in the area and all of my venders where aware and made sure to contact me or my coordinator prior to evacuation and when they found out they would have to evacuate say they would not be able to render services due to the hurricane and all 8 gave full refunds no problems and without request. On the other hand I had to continuously contact Gerald and get the run around through several email exchanges and he refused to mention cancellation due to the area being evacuated until I brought it up. I do not suggest that you take a gamble on this event hall and spend more money elsewhere. The reviews that state after payment communication became unprofessional is not an exaggeration and I recommend looking into other venues. Google will not let me add a screenshot but I have copied the section verbatim I was referred to when rudely told I didn't have to get anything back and I added some other cautionary parts of this sketchy contract that you may want to consider before doing business. WARRANTIES: The renter further agrees to indemnify, defend and hold harmless Celebrity Events & Banquet Halls, LLC and its officers, representatives, employees and agents, from any and all claims, fees, expenses or cost including legal fees asserted or incurred with regard to such warranty. Renter warrants that the event will be suitable for the Hall. IDEMNITY: The renter shall indemnify, defend and hold harmless Celebrity Events & Banquet Halls, LLC and its officers, representatives, employees and agents, from and against any and all legal claims, demands, or judgments arising out of, or in connection with any act or omission of the renter and / or its officers, representatives and agents. FORCE MAJEURE: Celebrity Events & Banquet Halls, LLC is not responsible for any event that is prevented, rendered impossible or infeasible by an act or regulation and any public authority or bureau, civil turmoil, strike, epidemic, interruption or delay of transportation services, war conditions, emergencies, or other causes beyond the control of the Hall. The Hall will not make any refunds for, or reschedule, any events canceled as a result of a force majeure.
