Please introduce yourself to our readers.
Hi beautiful, I'm Gerika! As a Columbus native, I have truly loved working with the communities that have made me what I am. In 2016, I turned my makeup dreams into a reality by starting Logan & Co! In 2017, I focused my artistry in Bridal and Special Events Makeup. Professionalism, cleanliness, and quality are what I am known for. I have a passion for all things beauty and would love to be a part of the day that you say, " I Do". I love to work with clients with all different skin tones, textures, and types.
I love how I get to be a part of one of the best days of a client’s life. I also love when I hand the client a mirror and see how much they enjoy their makeup.
How did you become a make-up artist?
I started Make-up artistry in 2016 while at school at Ohio University. I started to get messages from my friends and family members about doing their makeup for special events. I then began to build my kit and started to take on clients in my free time. I love how I get to be a part of one of the best days of a client’s life. I also love when I hand the client a mirror and see how much they enjoy their makeup.
How would you describe your style?
I love working with clients with all different needs. I love to focus on the skin, without a good base the entire look is thrown off. My style is tailoring to my client’s style while sticking to my signature looks of soft glam and glamour us.
What are the most common questions that brides ask you at the first introductory appointment?
Brides are mostly concerned about wearing makeup. Most of the brides I work with have never or rarely wear makeup. Making sure they understand what I do and how techniques used are important to the wear of the application. The wear and the way it feels is most important, everyone wants to feel important.
You know you’re talking to a good makeup artist when they are attentive to your needs. Professionalism and personalization are the most important.
Are there things that differentiate make-up artists?
Every makeup artist is different, we all have different skill sets, preferences, and prices. You know you’re talking to a good makeup artist when they are attentive to your needs. Professionalism and personalization are the most important. As a client, you should feel heard and understood. Brides should ask for their skillset to see if they align together. The easiest way to choose is by doing a trial or consultation with both. I try to make myself stand out by going above and beyond for every single client.
What is the best wedding makeup?
The best wedding makeup is makeup that the bride feels comfortable. Skin should look like skin, the foundation and the rest of the body should match, the eye shadow should be blended, and the makeup should last!
What is your must-have bridal makeup product?
My Lancôme Tent Idole Foundation is my favorite thing in my kit. I love everything in my kit, to be honest.
Which makeup trend do brides love to wear?
A trend that is very popular now is Cut Creases, I love doing them too!
What are the typical services/packages offered?
Makeup artist traditionally have packages including a trial, but not all do. Brides should expect to pay from $100-$200. These prices can fluctuate depending on the location and amount of people in the bridal party.
Was there ever a time you had to improvise?
I generally do not have to improvise because of my preparedness.
I generally do not have to improvise because of my preparedness. I have each one of my clients fill out a preference form to help me pack my kit correctly. I do overpack mostly, so if I end up needing something else or need to change something, I am able to. I want to make sure that if my brides change her mind I do not have to scramble.
