Why Wedding Videography Matters
Please introduce yourself to our readers.
We are HB Weddings, a Baltimore-based photography and videography company specializing in cinematic, short-form wedding videos and artistic lifestyle photography.
We brought our training and experience into wedding photography and video, and it helped us capture the unique, beautiful, and human details of each couple.
How did you become a wedding videographer?
We started out making documentaries and promotional videos, but a bunch of our friends started getting engaged, and many asked us to help them capture their big day. We brought our training and experience into wedding photography and video, and it helped us capture the unique, beautiful, and human details of each couple. Word caught on, and we began serving couples from all walks of life, all over the Baltimore area. To meet the demand, we created HB Weddings – a wing of our company devoted only to weddings.
Now we work with more couples than ever. We've gotten to travel to new places, even an island wedding where the groom arrived by boat! Even though we're working with more people, every wedding is a new love story we get to tell. When we capture your day, we get to know your relationship, all the little things you share that make it a lifelong love. When we’ve really captured those moments, the reactions we get can be pretty amazing. That’s what makes our job so rewarding.
How would you describe your style?
We specialize in 4-8 minute videos shot in an intimate, personalized documentary format. We try to capture all the details and moments you might not be able to take in yourself on your special day that you still want to see and remember: your best friends laughing and smiling, champagne bubbles fizzing, your mom putting on a special piece of jewelry – all those meaningful moments.
"Once, we worked with a groom who was pretty restrained. He seemed a bit awkward in our staged photo ops. However, at the moment before he walked down the aisle, his wireless mic picked him up as he talked to the best man. "I think I'm gonna cry," he said, after a long breath. "You got this, man" said his friend. It wasn't planned (and don't worry, we ran it by him before using it!) but it showed how much this mattered to him."
Your wedding is a celebration of something you've been building together for a long time. We bring that philosophy to our work - we care about celebrating you the way you really are. Some of our favorite videos include off-the-cuff moments. Once, we worked with a groom who was pretty restrained. He seemed a bit awkward in our staged photo ops. However, at the moment before he walked down the aisle, his wireless mic picked him up as he talked to the best man. "I think I'm gonna cry," he said, after a long breath. "You got this, man" said his friend. It wasn't planned (and don't worry, we ran it by him before using it!) but it showed how much this mattered to him. When he saw his fiancée walk down the aisle, we really got to understand what that meant, and how much he was struggling to keep it together. Because of a few honest moments like this, their wedding video really took us on a journey with the couple, and that matters to us.

Why should people hire a wedding videographer?
For all the thought, time and effort that goes into making a wedding happen, it’s astonishing how fast it all happens when the day finally arrives. With a well-produced wedding video, you get a thoughtful, artistic keepsake for yourself and an easy way to share your experience with friends or family that may not be able to attend.
What are the best tips to shoot a wedding video?
- First and foremost: always be yourself!
- Practice your smile and your movements in a mirror so you know how to look your best
- Meet with our team, let us get to know you. The more comfortable you and your significant other are around us and our cameras, the more we can capture the spirit of the day
Every venue is unique and beautiful, and we tend to choose locations that allow us to focus on the couple themselves. After all, your wedding is all about you!
What locations, backgrounds, or places result in best videos?
We like to keep it simple! Every venue is unique and beautiful, and we tend to choose locations that allow us to focus on the couple themselves. After all, your wedding is all about you!
Our number one suggestion is to choose only one location for your group photos. Couples can sometimes be surprised by how hectic a wedding day can be, and moving your whole family around between locations can be stressful. We get the best images when you get to relax.
When we talk to couples later in their marriages, the images they really cherish are the pictures of people. Some of these are posed portraits, and a lot of them are candids. Years later, it can be nice to have a reminder of the people you love, and the big, crazy step the two of you took together.
What does the process look like after the wedding day, and what do couples receive (website link, DVD, USB memory stick, etc.)?
After the wedding, our team stays in touch during the editing process until a rough edit or proof is delivered, after which we finalize the video and deliver it both digitally and on a keepsake flash drive. This process can take anywhere from 2-3 weeks depending on the speed of responses.
How much does a professional videographer typically charge?
Every videographer is different, but our most popular videography package starts at $3,500.
We keep our pricing simple, so you know what you're paying as soon as you hire us.
What does your wedding package include?
Our starting package includes full coverage (from getting ready to the end of the night) with two professional videographers and the production of a 3-4 minutes micro-documentary style video with one song of the client’s choosing, delivered digitally and on a keepsake flash drive.
Which parts of the wedding will be filmed and which ones will not?
We respect the client’s needs on what is filmed and what isn’t, but we do our best to document the entire day.
